Installation folder

The location of GuideGuide’s installation folder depends on your operating system and the Creative Cloud version you are using.

CEP folder names

GuideGuide has stored information in many folders over the years. In the files paths below, you will see a reference to <CEPFOLDER>. Here is a list of the folder names for each Creative Cloud version.

Modern versions (CC 2014, CC 2015, CC 2015.1):

Depending the verisons you’ve had installed, you may find GuideGuide files in any of these locations:

Installation

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/<CEPFOLDER>/extensions/
/Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/<CEPFOLDER>/extensions/

Data

/Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Application Support/GuideGuide/data.json
/Users/<USERNAME>/Documents/GuideGuide/data.json
/Users/<USERNAME>/Caches/CSXS/cep_cache/VERSION_com.cameronmcefee.guideguide

The latest versions of OS X hide the Library folder by default. To open both the system and user Library folder:

  1. Open Terminal.app
  2. Type open /Library/ && open ~/Library/

Windows

Depending the verisons you’ve had installed, you may find GuideGuide files in any of these locations:

Installation

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\<CEP>\extensions
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\<CEP>\extensions
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\<CEPFOLDER>\extensions

C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\GuideGuide
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\GuideGuide
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Temp\cep_cache\VERSION_com.cameronmcefee.guideguide

In Windows, the AppData folder is hidden by default. To view it, you can either show hidden files or open Explorer and type %appdata%


Danger zone

Deleting the installation folder will remove GuideGuide. It will not delete GuideGuide’s data.

Deleting GuideGuide’s data folder will erase any saved GuideGuide data. It will not remove GuideGuide. GuideGuide will create a new data folder the next time it runs.
