The Lifer

Starting today, in anticipation of the beloved autumnal season of celebration we call Black Friday, I’m offering a new license tier: The Lifer. Pay once and use GuideGuide for as long as the software is supported.

The Lifer is the same GuideGuide as every other tier. It works in all the supported apps and gets all the updates. It’s a license for one person on unlimited machines. The only difference is that you pay for it once, and it’s yours for the life of the software. You know, exactly what you’d expect with a name like “The Lifer”.

Why $95

The economics of a one-time purchase are pretty straightforward. Understand how long people use your software and then price it so the die-hards get a deal and the early churners are worth more than they would have been on a subscription. GuideGuide has been around long enough that I can finally see those trends.

$95 is five years of The Polymath, the $19/year middle tier intended for folks who use GuideGuide in multiple apps.

Black Friday

Through November, The Lifer is $60 with the code BLACKFRIDAY26. The code only applies to The Lifer. Since the annual plans are already kinda pay what you want, using a discount is practically stealing.

If you already subscribe

Other things I’m making

Before you go, I’ve been busy in the last few years working on other projects. I don’t do a lot of cross-promotion of my other work, so since you’re here, maybe check some things out.

LightWatch

Remember the cool design blogs of the early 2000s full of visual inspiration? A site called Lookwork popped up as an RSS reader for visual things and I loved it. Sadly, it’s gone now, so I built my own app called LightWatch to scratch that itch. Follow the visual feeds you care about and get cool stuff to look at all in one place. I’ve got it in a private beta at the moment, but you can join the mailing list to be notified when there’s a public beta available.

140bites.com

I cook a lot. I’ve always enjoyed following recipes, and in recent years I started sharing my ratings and reviews of recipes. This year, I gave those things a home at 140bites.com. If you enjoy cooking and want someone to sort the gems from the compost, check it out.

Anyway, we’re here for commerce.
