Set Your Precision
Grids can result in guides landing on subpixels. If you’re working on a pixel-perfect design, this might not be desirable. By default, if your ruler is set to “pixels” or you’re in an app that only supports pixels, GuideGuide will apply a rounding algorithm to its final guide positions to ensure guides end up exactly on pixel boundaries.
To change this behavior:
- Click the Settings button.
- Scroll until you see “Snap to pixels”.
- Choose the option that suits your needs.
This setting is equivalent to the calculation setting in grid notation.
The way the pixels are distributed is nuanced, but it roughly rounds all of the spaces between guides down to a whole number, and then spreads the remainder pixels across all spaces that changed after rounding. If you would like more control of where the remainder is positioned, you will need to use the remainder pixel distribution setting in grid notation.
